EXAMINATION ANNOUNCEMENT - POLICE OFFICER
LEHIGH COUNTY CHIEFS OF POLICE ASSOCIATION CONSORTIUM

The Lehigh County Chiefs of Police Association, on behalf of their respective Civil Service Commissions or Municipalities, will be conducting a written examination for Police Officer on Saturday, April 6, 2019 AT DESALES UNIVERSITY, DeSales University Center, 2755 Station Ave, Center Valley, PA 18034. 

DeSales University is not affiliated with the event and the University should not be contacted regarding the test.

  • All applicants shall report for registration at 7:30 a.m. on the day of the test. No one will be admitted after 8:30 a.m.
  • All applicants must bring photo ID and two number 2 pencils.
  • No food or drink, cell phones, back packs, hats, weapons, or purses, other than those used to carry personal hygiene items, will be permitted into the testing facility.

INSTRUCTIONS

Beginning FEBRUARY 8, 2019 at 8:00 am, a single unified application will be available on line at www.lehighcountypolicetest.com. This application can be used to apply to any one or all eight of the Departments you are eligible for employment.  It is incumbent on the applicant to determine their eligibility based on the attached qualifications.  Unified Applications must be completed on-line at www.lehighcountypolicetest.com.

You will not be permitted to take the exam until you complete the application on line and pay the $75 fee by using the Pay Pal account linked to the application.

  • NO paper applications will be accepted.
  • NO checks or money orders will be accepted. 
  • Applicants who do not have computer access can go to any public library or one of the participating agencies to complete the application on line.

Accessing the Candidate Resource Center – Candidate Study Guide

  • Located on the red navigation bar at the top of the page you will find a link to our “Resource Center”. Click on this link and you will be brought to that section of the website.
  • Once you access the “Resource Center” on the website, simply scroll down the page until you see the section for “Public Safety Resources”. You will need to select the appropriate study guide to download. For those candidates participating in the written entrance level examination for police officer offered by the Lehigh County Chiefs of Police Consortium, you should select the “Entry Level – Police Officer Study Guide”. Please note that once you select the appropriate study guide, it will then open as a PDF file for viewing and/or printing if you so choose.

 

PHYSICAL AGILITY TEST

There will be a physical fitness assessment held on APRIL 20, 2019 at 8:00am, at Lehigh University, Lehigh Rauch Field House 123 Goodman Drive, Bethlehem, PA 18015.  You will be notified in writing if you are invited to attend the agility test.  The standards for successfully completing the agility test are listed at www.mpoetc.state.pa.us using the thirtieth percentile.

Physical Fitness Test
Applicants for the position of “Police Officer” must demonstrate a fitness level, which would allow them to perform the essential job functions of a police officer. Applicants must perform each of the following exercises in accordance with the indicated standards. Each exercise will be scored as PASS/FAIL. If an applicant fails one event, they fail the entire test and will not advance in the testing process. The exercises must be performed in the following order:

  • Vertical Jump-Applicant will be provided three attempts to jump as high as possible from a standing position.
    The standard is 15”. **2 minute rest
  • 1 Minute Sit-Ups-Applicants will have 1 minute to complete 28 sit-ups. This exercise shall consist of the applicant lying on the floor with the knees bent 90’ and feet held in position. The applicant will interlock their fingers behind their head and touch their elbows to their knees without pulling on their neck or raising their hips off of the floor. ** 5 minute rest
  • 300 Meter Run-Applicant will run 300 meters on a level surface within 70.1 seconds. **5-10 minute rest
  • Push-ups-Applicant will place their hands on the ground, approximately shoulder width apart. Applicant’s feet may be up to 12” apart. The body must be in a straight line from shoulders to ankles. 24 correct push-ups must be performed to pass this test.
    ** 5 minute rest
  • 1.5 Mile Run-The applicant will run a level 1.5 mile course within 15 minutes and 55 seconds.
